About The Qualification
This qualification is designed to give you the knowledge, skills and competences to work as a self-employed counsellor in independent practice. It also equips you to take on a senior counselling role in an organisational context where client assessment, referral and routine evaluation are part of the role.
The qualification meets the competences of The Scope of Practice and Education for Counselling and Psychotherapy (SCoPEd) Column B, and with sufficient practice hours, provides candidates with a route to membership and accreditation with professional associations in counselling approved by the Professional Standards Authority, e.g., BACP, NCPS, ACC.
You must be qualified at TC-L4 or equivalent, aligned with SCoPEd Column A competencies, and offers are made after an application and interview process.
Information about counsellor training
To work as a counsellor, you will need a minimum of a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. This qualification will prepare you to work as a counsellor and join a recognised professional or association, for example, BACP/ NCPS. To take this qualification, you will need to have completed the Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills plus the Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies.

- Pay a £300 deposit to secure your place
Open sessions are held 3 times a year at Jennings Hall from 4 pm – 6 pm on the day that the course will run. Once the course is full, we will hold a waiting list.
